WATCH: Babar Azam, Steve Smith playful banter in Melbourne Test

Pakistan's tour of Australia, post Babar Azam stepping down as all-format captain, endured a challenging start with consecutive defeats in the first two Tests, leading to a series loss ahead of the final game.

While the team faced setbacks, Babar's performance also fell short of expectations in both matches. However, amidst this, a notable incident took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) that drew attention.

During a session after the tea break, Babar Azam, accompanied by Shan Masood, was preparing to resume batting.  As Babar was taking guard, he was playfully nudged by former Australian captain Steve Smith. In a light-hearted moment, while Babar was conversing with the on-field umpire, Smith approached him, prompting Babar to jokingly offer his bat to Smith.

Smith, appreciating the banter, responded with a smile and an apologetic gesture, folding his hands in a light-hearted apology to Babar.

It is worth noting that Australia secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series against Pakistan with a commanding victory in the second Test on Friday.
