WATCH: Here's how Shaheen led Desert Vipers to victory over MI Emirates

In a nail-biting encounter at the ongoing ILt20 2024, Pakistan's T20 skipper, Shaheen Afridi, showcased an outstanding performance, leading Desert Vipers to a stunning last-ball victory against Mumbai Indians Emirates.

Opting to bat first, MI Emirates faced a formidable challenge as they stumbled to 111 runs for the loss of six wickets by the 16th over.

Pakistan's left-arm pacer, Mohammad Amir, emerged as the game-changer with an aggressive display, dismissing key players like Kusal Perera, Tim David, and Trent Boult.

Amir's exceptional four-over spell restricted MI Emirates to 149 runs, claiming three wickets with an economy rate of 6.50.

In response, Desert Vipers faced early setbacks and found themselves struggling at 82 runs with six wickets down within the 12th over. However, the duo of Sherfane Rutherford and skipper Shaheen Afridi turned the tide in favor of Desert Vipers.

With the team needing 10 runs in the last over and three runs from the final delivery, the tension escalated. Facing the crucial final ball from Trent Boult, Shaheen skillfully guided the ball towards the boundary, capitalizing on the absence of fielders at the boundary.

Afridi's quick thinking and a swift run resulted in a breathtaking victory for Desert Vipers, winning the match by two wickets.

The 23-year-old contributed significantly to the team's triumph, scoring a quick 17 runs off 12 balls, including a crucial boundary, at a remarkable strike rate of 141.67.
