WATCH: Saim Ayub, Azam Khan light up CPL with blazing batting

Saim Ayub and Azam Khan, the dynamic batters of Guyana Amazon Warriors, lit up the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with their hitting during a clash against St Lucia Kings on Saturday.

The opening partnership of Chanderpaul Hemraj and Saim Ayub kickstarted the batting for Guyana Warriors, as the initial plan was for a 10-over-a-side match. Regrettably, after just five deliveries into the innings, rain intervened once again, leading to a reduction in the match to a mere five overs for each team. Although Hemraj faced difficulties and couldn't establish himself, Azam Khan entered the fray and teamed up with Saim Ayub to create fireworks with the bat.

This Pakistani duo made a significant impact, accumulating 18 and 19 runs respectively in the third and fourth overs.

Jair McAllister, however, turned the tide in the final over with a remarkable display of bowling, limiting Guyana Warriors to a total of 56-2 in their allotted five overs. McAllister even secured his debut wicket in the CPL by dismantling Azam Khan's stumps on the last ball of the innings.

Azam contributed 21 runs from just 11 deliveries, showcasing his prowess with two sixes and a four. On the other hand, Saim Ayub concluded the innings undefeated, amassing an impressive 24 runs from 16 balls, featuring three fours and a six.

As the teams were preparing to commence the second innings, the rain once more disrupted proceedings, compelling the officials to make the difficult decision to abandon the match.
