WATCH: Shan Masood engages in heated exchange after controversial dismissal

During the ongoing first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, Pakistan's captain Shan Masood found himself caught up in a tense situation following a controversial dismissal.

The incident occurred on the first day of the match, when Bangladesh's Shoriful Islam delivered a back-of-a-length ball that reared up sharply, catching Masood off guard.

The Bangladesh players, convinced that Masood had edged the ball to wicketkeeper Litton Das, immediately appealed, and their enthusiasm led captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto to call for a review after the on-field umpire initially ruled Masood not out.

The review showed a slight deflection on the UltraEdge, leading the third umpire to overturn the on-field decision, much to the delight of the Bangladesh team.

However, the decision did not sit well with Masood, who was visibly frustrated as he engaged in a heated discussion with the on-field umpire, Richard Kettleborough. Masood insisted that the ball had clipped his pad rather than the bat. Despite his protest, the umpire instructed Masood to leave the field, marking the end of his brief innings.

After returning to the pavilion, Masood pointed out to the team's analyst that there the ball hap clipped the pad instead of the bat, further fueling his belief that the decision was incorrect. His dismissal, caught by Litton Das off the bowling of Shoriful Islam for just 6 runs, put Pakistan in a precarious position early in their innings.

To make matters worse for Pakistan, star batsman Babar Azam was dismissed for a duck shortly after Masood's exit, adding to the team's woes. Babar's wicket further tilted the momentum in Bangladesh's favor, as their decision to bowl first seemed to be paying off. The double blow of losing both Masood and Babar in quick succession has left Pakistan struggling to regain their footing in the match.
