The ninth edition of PSL will start in Lahore on February 17, 2024 in Lahore.

According to details, TV production rights were granted after significant delay, leading to another dispute. 60% marks were technical, and the rest were of financial bid. The company holding broadcast rights in the technical bid was disqualified. Thus, only two companies remained.

Surprisingly, all three companies expressed distrust in marking and appealed to the Grievance committee. Acting Chairman PCB Shah Khawar amicably resolved the issue. After the hearing, all parties' numbers were increased. The company disqualified was also included in the race. 

Later, importance was given to the company ranked second in financial bid instead of the one with the lowest amount.  So, despite being the company initially qualified, the one with the lowest bid fell behind. As a result, the production cost increased by nearly Rs. 50 million. This year, production will cost Rs. 1.15 billion, and the next year's amount will be Rs. 1.21 billion.  95% of this will be given by the franchises. 

Sources revealed that there were objections from both parties from the beginning regarding the bidding process, and both filed complaints with the committee. The top company also raised questions about the oversight of Director Commercial Babar Hamid's bid committee. 

On the other hand, PCB says that the agreed procedure was followed, and the overall marks of technical and financial aspects were considered. Remember that last year's PSL production cost was Rs. 1.169 billion, with 95% paid by franchises and 5% by PCB."
