Which players will make their comeback in Pakistan's squad for South Africa series?

The Pakistan cricket team is in the final stages of squad selection for their highly anticipated tour of South Africa. This series, spanning three ODIs, three T20Is, and two Tests, is scheduled from December 10 to January 7, 2025.

According to sources, the ODI squad is set to feature key comebacks, with former captain Babar Azam leading the charge. Fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi are also expected to return, boosting the team’s pace attack. Additionally, Fakhar Zaman, deemed crucial for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy preparations, is likely to make his white-ball comeback.

For the Test series, the inclusion of opener Imam-ul-Haq is under serious consideration. Plans are reportedly underway to organize a training camp in South Africa specifically for the Test players, ensuring optimal preparation.

In the T20I series, senior players might be rested to provide younger players with opportunities, indicating a shift towards experimenting with fresh talent in the shortest format.

The official squads are expected to be announced either after the conclusion of the ongoing ODI series against Zimbabwe or following the first T20I match against them.
