PCB suspends domestic cricket, will resume after Ceasefire reached

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended ongoing domestic tournaments after a directive from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a statement released on their website, PCB ann affected events include the President’s Trophy Grade-II, Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup and Inter-District U19 One-Day tournament. Also affected is the Women's National T20 cup.

All competitions will resume now that Ceasefire between Pakistan and India has been reached, but currently it is unclear when.

The decision follows the postponement of the remaining eight matches of PSL 10. The PCB cited rising hostilities from India and national security priorities.

“The nation’s attention is rightly focused on the bravery and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces,” the board said.

While thanking franchises, players, sponsors and organisers, the PCB noted that “cricket must take a back seat during such challenging times.”

The board also reaffirmed its commitment to the well-being of players, especially international ones, and promised a revised schedule in due course.
