Gujarat Titans' head coach Ashish Nehra and Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki are likely to end their stints ahead of IPL 2025
The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season is set to witness significant changes in the coaching line-up across several franchises.
Notably, Gautam Gambhir, Abhishek Nayar, and Ryan ten Doeschate have already left Kolkata Knight Riders to join the Indian national team's coaching staff. Additionally, Ricky Ponting has concluded his tenure as the head coach of Delhi Capitals.
Speculations are rife that other teams might also see changes in their support staff.
According to the local media reports, Gujarat Titans' head coach Ashish Nehra and Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki are likely to end their stints ahead of IPL 2025. The Titans, who finished eighth in the last season under Shubman Gill's captaincy, struggled after he took over from Hardik Pandya.
Nehra and Solanki joined the Titans in IPL 2022 and led the team to their maiden title in their debut season—a remarkable achievement. They also had a successful run in IPL 2023, reaching the final before losing to Chennai Super Kings.
However, this past season saw the Titans fail to qualify for the playoffs, primarily due to the absence of all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was traded to Mumbai Indians, and the injured Mohammad Shami.
The report suggests that the Titans are in talks with Yuvraj Singh to join the coaching staff as Nehra and Solanki are expected to depart.
“Lot of changes on the cards. Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki are highly likely to move on and discussions around Yuvraj Singh have already begun. Nothing is finalised right now but there could be some major changes in the coaching staff of the Gujarat Titans,” says a source close to developments.
Yuvraj Singh, who has previously mentored GT skipper Shubman Gill and shares a strong camaraderie with him, is being considered despite having no prior IPL coaching experience. Gary Kirsten, who served as the Titans' assistant coach for the past three seasons, has already left to become the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team.
Other members of the Titans' coaching staff, including Aashish Kapoor, Naeem Amin, Narender Negi, and Mithun Manhas, are also expected to end their association with the franchise if Nehra and Solanki depart.
