Former fast bowler Aaqib Javed has emerged as a strong contender for the position of Director High Performance at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), sources revealed.

According to sources, just like in the past, Aaqib Javed is expected to revive and reinvigorate the cricket academies across the country. The PCB has reportedly decided to fully activate its academies in Lahore, Karachi, and Multan, with year-round programs planned at all three locations.

Special focus will be placed on age-group pathway programs within these academies, ensuring a structured and consistent development route for young talent.

Work at the academies will focus on building bench strength, and standout performers will be placed at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, where specialized coaches will work on their development.

In Multan, under-19 cricketers will receive targeted training to prepare them for the upcoming Under-19 World Cup.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the focus will be on the Pakistan women's cricket team and other emerging female players. These athletes will be groomed for the Women's Cricket World Cup later this year and the T20 World Cup next year.
