Director of High Performance, Aaqib Javed, has presented a comprehensive development plan aimed at improving the overall standard of cricket in Pakistan.

According to sources, the plan has been designed for the national teams, Shaheens, emerging players, and various age-group squads. It has been formally submitted for approval by Aaqib Javed.

As part of the proposed reforms, the biomechanics lab currently located at a local university will be relocated to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. The upgraded facility will provide cricketers with access to state-of-the-art equipment and advanced training software.

The plan also outlines the revitalization of high-performance centers in Faisalabad and Sialkot. Sialkot will cater to under-13 and under-15 players, while Faisalabad will offer long-term training programs for the under-17 age group.

Furthermore, 30 to 35 players will undergo training at the NCA to enhance the national team’s bench strength. New regional centers are also in the pipeline, including an under-19 facility in Multan and a dedicated center for women cricketers in Karachi.

Sources indicate that early preparations for upcoming Test series are already underway. However, a head coach for red-ball cricket will not be appointed immediately. Several candidates are being considered for the role, including former captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
