The USA cricket board expressed their disappointment with Jones's choice
Aaron Jones has been left out of the USA cricket squad for the upcoming World Cup League 2 (WCL-2) tri-series, which starts on Friday, October 25. The decision came after Jones chose to play for the St. Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) instead of joining the USA team for their tour in Namibia.
The USA cricket board expressed their disappointment with Jones's choice. He entered the CPL as a local player and did not need a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from USA Cricket, but his decision still angered the selection committee. They have decided to stick with the same squad that played in Namibia in September.
Jones has been a key player for the USA since his debut in 2018, and his recent performances in the CPL have gained a lot of attention. However, there are concerns that he may lose his spot in the T20I team if he continues to prioritize club cricket over international duties.
In addition to Jones, Sanjay Krishnamurthy was also overlooked for selection despite scoring an impressive 167 runs for USA-A against Scotland. Krishnamurthy was performing well while the team announcement was made, leading his team in a chase against Namibia. Surprisingly, he was not even included as the 16th man in the squad.
The USA team is set to start their campaign with their first match against Nepal on Friday.
