Shafique has piled over 500 runs in the eight innings he has played so far for Pakistan
Pakistan's latest batting prodigy Abdullah Shafique continues to stamp his mark in international cricket as he equalled the record of most 50+ scores for Pakistan after the first eight Test innings.
The 22-year-old made his Test debut against Bangladesh last year and made an impressive start to his Test career, scoring half-centuries in both innings of his first Test.
Shafique has piled over 500 runs in the eight innings he has played so far for Pakistan. He scored his maiden Test century at Pindi Cricket Stadium in his third match against Australia.
It must be noted that his brave knock of 96 off 305 balls was instrumental in saving the Karachi Test for Pakistan in the ongoing Benaud-Qadir series.
Besides Shafique, Umar Akmal is the other batter who scored five 50+ scores in the first eight innings of his Test career but faded away from the longer format after a promising start.
Ever since Pakistan started playing Test cricket in 1952, no other batter has scored more than 50+ scores at the same stage (8 innings).
Javed Miandad and Saeed Ahmed scored four each in their first 8 innings in Tests.
Abdullah Shafique was unbeaten on 75* at Lunch on Day Three of the decider Test at Gaddafi Stadium
