Pakistan Test opener Abid Ali has taken another step towards complete fitness as he started running with the full flow for the first time after heart surgery. 

The 34-year-old was diagnosed with the acute coronary syndrome in December 2021 and is under rehabilitation.

Abid was hospitalized after feeling discomfort in the chest during the last round fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy between Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He received two stents during the surgery.
 
Abid Ali hopes to hold the bat soon and start net practice. He further thanked his fans and followers for their prayers and support.

"Another step forward. Alhumdulilah started running with full flow after my heart surgery. Will soon hold the bat and start training. Thank you everyone for all the wishes and prayers," he tweeted.

Abid has played sixteen Tests for Pakistan and has scored 1180 runs at an average of 49.16 including four centuries and three half-centuries. He also has a century and a fifty in six ODI matches.

The opener was not considered for selection for the Australia series due to his medical condition. He was replaced by Shan Masood in the squad.
