Former Australian cricket great Adam Gilchrist has revealed his top-three wicketkeeper-batsmen of all time.

In discussing his choices, Gilchrist named Rodney Marsh, an Australian legend and his personal idol, as his top pick. Second on his list was former Indian captain MS Dhoni, whose calm demeanor and unique approach to the game impressed Gilchrist.

“Rodney Marsh, he was my idol. That’s who I wanted to be. MS Dhoni… I like his coolness. He did it his way, always calm,” Gilchrist told The Times of India.

Rounding out his top three was Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara, admired for his elegant batting style and proficient wicketkeeping skills.

“And Kumar Sangakkara. He was so classy in everything he did, batting high up the order and with his keeping skills,” he added.

Gilchrist had an illustrious career from 1996 to 2008, during which he played in 96 Tests, 287 ODIs, and 13 T20Is. He accumulated a total of 15,461 runs across these formats and recorded 905 dismissals (813 catches and 92 stumpings), making him the second-highest wicketkeeper in terms of dismissals in international cricket history.
