The Afghanistan Women's Cricket Team and the Cricket Without Borders XI played an exhibition charity match in Australia, marking a significant moment for Afghan women cricketers.

It is noteworthy that the women cricketers who left Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover participated in this match. This was the first cricket match Afghanistan's women cricketers have played in three years.

Afghan captain, Nahida, expressed optimism, saying, "This match brings us great hope. It can open doors to education, sports, and a brighter future for Afghan women."

It is important to mention that due to restrictions imposed on women in Afghanistan, including a ban on playing sports, Australia had previously refused to play a series against Afghanistan.

Most of the Afghanistan Women's Cricket Team players are refugees in Australia, and this match marked the first time since the Taliban assumed power that the Afghan women's team reunited as a group, following their departure from Afghanistan.
