Warwickshire's performance director, Gavin Larsen, praised Aamer's performance in Australia and highlighted his qualities as a fast bowler
Warwickshire have signed Aamer Jamal, Pakistan seam-bowling allrounder, as their overseas player. Jamal will be with the club until the end of the T20 Blast group stages.
Jamal is eager to play in the County Championship match against Nottinghamshire starting on Friday, but his lack of recent first-class cricket may delay his debut until May 10.
Joining fellow Pakistani cricketer Hassan Ali at Edgbaston, Jamal brings with him a notable record, particularly highlighted by his impactful performance against Australia. In his Test debut in Perth, he impressed with figures of 6 for 111 in the first innings and followed it up with a commendable batting display, scoring 82 runs from the number 9 position. His exceptional performance earned him the title of player of the match.
Warwickshire's performance director, Gavin Larsen, praised Aamer's performance in Australia and highlighted his qualities as a fast bowler. Larsen mentioned that Aamer is enthusiastic and ready to play, having trained alongside Hassan.
"He really captured the cricket world’s attention in Australia," Gavin Larsen, Warwickshire performance director, said. "He took the Aussies on with good pace, bounce, and a combative approach, all attributes you want in a fast bowler.
"Pat Cummins was named Player of the Series but you could have made a very strong argument for Jamal to have been awarded that title."
Larsen mentioned that Aamer is enthusiastic and ready to play, having trained alongside Hassan.
"When we found out Aamir was available we did our due diligence and made an offer. He’s jumping out of his skin to be on the park on Friday. He was on the same Pakistan training camp with Hassan so we know he’s fit and strong," he added.
