Ahmed Shehzad, the Pakistan opening batsman, remains optimistic about a national team call-up despite not being picked by any franchise for the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The 32-year-old disclosed that Chief Selector Wahab Riaz has assured him that his performances in domestic T20 matches will be taken into account.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Shehzad expressed his anticipation for an opportunity based on his consistent performances in domestic cricket over the past two and a half years.

"I have been consistently participating in domestic cricket for the past couple of years. My contributions for the country are well-documented, yet I have not been called up for national duty or the PSL," Shehzad remarked. "Nevertheless, I have persisted with hard work, and my current season's performance speaks for itself."

Shehzad highlighted his inclusion in the camp before the New Zealand series in December last year, which was based on his domestic performances, as a positive sign. He now hopes for further opportunities in the future.

The Pakistan opener further added that he is willing to bat at any position for Pakistan.

"I have batted up the order and will prefer to that. As far as batting in middle order is concerned, I am willing to do anything for Pakistan but it is important to sit down and talk about the plan," he concluded.
