Pakistan cricketer, Ahmed Shehzad, has been included in the Gold category for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, scheduled to take place in April and May 2025.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the list of local players in the Gold category on Thursday, featuring notable names such as Fawad Alam, Umar Akmal, and Sharjeel Khan, who have been out of the national team for some time.
Ahmed Shehzad last played in the PSL during the 2020 season, representing the Quetta Gladiators, the team with which he won the title in 2019.
The PSL 10 player draft is set to happen on January 13 at Huzuri Bagh, Lahore, starting at 12:30 PM (Pakistan Standard Time). The event was initially planned for Gwadar, Balochistan, but had to be relocated due to "unforeseen logistical challenges."
Gwadar will still play a role in the PSL 2025 Trophy Tour, as the scenic city will host one of the stops on the tour.
Changes in Draft Categories:
The PCB has introduced several changes to the draft system for this season:
- Platinum categories: Reduced from three to two.
- Diamond categories: Reduced from three to one.
- Gold categories: Reduced from three to two.
- Silver categories: Reduced from five to three.
Revised Draft Pick Order:
For the Platinum 1 category, the Lahore Qalandars will have the first pick, followed by:
1. Karachi Kings
2. Quetta Gladiators
3. Peshawar Zalmi
4. Multan Sultans
5. Islamabad United
In the Platinum 2 category, the Quetta Gladiators will make the first pick, followed by Karachi Kings.
The Gold category list features a mix of experienced players like Ahmed Shehzad and younger emerging talents from across Pakistan. These players will compete for spots in the six franchise teams, aiming to make an impact in the marquee league.
