Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has questioned the inclusion of top-order batter Usman Khan in the national cricket team.

In a recent interview with a local channel, Shehzad expressed his concerns about the selection process, suggesting that it might have been driven by a desire for sympathy rather than performance.

"You have included Usman Khan in the team, so why have you included him? To gain sympathy? Run a good story, and sympathy will be gained," Shehzad said.

Usman Khan earned his spot in the national team after delivering back-to-back impressive performances for Multan Sultans in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL). His consistent form in the PSL led to his international debut against New Zealand in the recently concluded five-match home T20I series.

However, the right-hand batter struggled to make a significant impact at the international level, managing to score only 59 runs in four matches.

In the recently concluded T20I series against Ireland, which Pakistan won 2-1, Usman Khan was sidelined and did not feature in the playing XI for any of the matches.

It is worth noting that Pakistan is in the midst of their last T20I series before the T20 World Cup against England. Following the rain-affected opening game, there's a strong possibility that Usman Khan could feature in the starting eleven for the second T20I match set for Saturday at 6:30 PM (PST) in Birmingham.
