Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has claimed that Virat Kohli needs to pick up his performances otherwise he will not be spared and can be potentially dropped as well.

While speaking to a media outlet, Akhtar said that no player deserves preferential treatment if their performances are not helping the team.

"It is a performance based IPL franchise model. No one will be spared, not even Virat Kohli. Even he can be dropped if he does not perform. Some of the things I can't even say now. Not one but there are 10,000 things going on in his head. He is a good person, a good player and great cricketer, but I want him to just focus, on one thing at a time," he said.

Akhtar further added that Kohli needs to consider himself an "ordinary player" and keep the pressure of being a star aside.

"Consider yourself as a ordinary player, pick up your bat and just play. People have already started pointing fingers at Virat Kohli and it's dangerous," former pacer added.

The former India and RCB captain Virat Kohli has been struggling with his form as of late. In this year's IPL edition, Kohli has only managed to score 107 runs in 5 innings at an average of 26.75.
