A historic moment in cricket as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced an all-female panel of match officials for the upcoming ninth edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024.
A total of 13 match officials, comprising 10 umpires and three match referees, have been selected to oversee the tournament, which will be hosted by Bangladesh in the United Arab Emirates.
Claire Polosak, a seasoned official, will be leading the panel, having officiated in four previous Women's T20 World Cups. Kim Cotton and Jacqueline Williams, both of whom were involved in the final of the last edition, will also be making their fourth appearance at the event.
Zimbabwe's Sarah Dambanevana will make her debut as an umpire in the tournament, adding a new dimension to the officiating team.
Sean Easey, ICC Senior Manager – Umpires and Referees, expressed his pride in the all-female lineup, stating, "The ICC is proud to be contributing to the advancement of women in our sport. To be announcing this all-female lineup of match officials for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is wonderful."
The tournament will feature 10 teams competing across 23 matches, with the opening clash between Bangladesh and Scotland scheduled for October 3 in Sharjah.
