Mohammad Amir has responded to Rohit Sharma's comments about him being an ordinary bowler and stated that it is impossible to be considered a world-class bowler by everyone.

Speaking to a local media channel, Amir said that he did not take Rohit Sharma's remarks seriously.

"I don’t take Rohit Sharma’s statement seriously. Everyone has his own opinion and it is impossible that everyone regards me as a world-class bowler," Amir said.

Rohit made the remarks on the back of Mohammad Amir's performances following the 2016 Asia Cup, claiming that Amir still needed to perform in order to be considered a world-class bowler.

Amir's spell against India remains one of the most iconic spells after he returned the figures of 3 for 18, which included the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, and Suresh Raina.

The left-arm pacer responded maturely and added that one should not take such comments personally.

"There is nothing to be felt bad about it, and as a professional, we should not take such things in a negative way. You cannot be everyone’s favorite," he added.

It is worth adding that Mohammad Amir also delivered a phenomenal performance against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, claiming the wickets of Rohit Sharma for a duck and sending Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli back to the pavilion to help Pakistan claim the victory.

Despite comments against him, Amir maintained the opinion that he respects Rohit Sharma and considers him a world-class batter.

"No doubt he is a world-class batsman. I bowled well every time I faced Rohit and he struggled while facing me, still, I will call him a world-class player,” Amir added.
