Left-arm pacer had called time on his international career in 2020
Former wicketkeepers, Rashid Latif and Moin Khan, believe that Mohammad Amir is a brilliant player and can still represent Pakistan team.
Left-arm pacer had called time on his international career in 2020 in protest over the treatment he had received from the then-management, led by Misbah ul Haq.
According to recent media reports, an important member of Pakistan selection committee had contacted Amir’s manager and asked him to communicate to the left-arm pacer to be prepared for international comeback.
However, the top officials of PCB have denied these reports and have said that there is no immediate possibility of Amir returning to the Pakistan team.
However, Latif on Tuesday said that the new crop of pacers like Zaman Khan, are not even close to Amir’s ability as fast-bowlers.
“As a bowler, he is still better than many bowlers that are playing [in Pakistan team]. Amir’s selection won’t be a bad call. He would go past many current bowlers. He will break the monopoly of a particular bunch of players,” Latif said.
Moin, while talking to the media on Monday, echoed similar thoughts as Latif.
“Amir is a brilliant player. If his performance is good then he should definitely be added to the national team,” said Moin.
