Former West Indies batting maestro and Quetta Gladiators' mentor, Sir Vivian Richards, has expressed his admiration for pacer Mohammad Amir ahead of the upcoming season nine of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Speaking to local media, Richards commended Amir's prowess on the field, heralding him as a valuable addition to the Gladiators' lineup.

“I have always praised Mohammad Amir and I’m happy to see him play for Quetta Gladiators. Amir will be a classy inclusion for Quetta," Richards said.

While acknowledging Amir's potential, Richards refrained from drawing comparisons to fellow bowler Naseem Shah, instead focusing on the wealth of experience Amir brings to the team.

"I don’t know if Amir will have pace similar to Naseem Shah but we are happy that an experienced player is part of the side,” he further added.

Richards also touched upon Quetta's recent struggles in the PSL, noting the need for change within the squad.

“Quetta has not been able to do well over the past few years which is why the changes could be good for the side. I think we have formed a good team for PSL 9,” he said.

Commenting on Sarfaraz Ahmed's resignation, Richards expressed optimism in Gladiators' former captain.

“I’m a big fan of Sarfaraz Ahmed. I’m sure the appointment of a new captain will take the pressure off Sarfaraz. I have asked him to prove his worth with the bat in PSL 9,” he concluded.

It is worth noting that Gladiators' will play their first match in PSL 9 against Peshawar Zalmi in Lahore on Sunday.
