Left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir had hired a personal trainer specifically for the T20 World Cup 2024, reported local media. This arrangement was unique as he obtained special permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and personally covered all expenses for his trainer.
Amir's trainer accompanied him not only to the United States but also on tours in Ireland and England. This scenario was unusual because it meant Amir was receiving separate training from the rest of the team.
The report further added that the lack of unity among the players contributed to Pakistan's early exit from the tournament.
The disunity was further exacerbated by the presence of players' families. A group of 26-28 people, including cricketers' wives and family members, traveled with the team.
The presence of families led to parties and gatherings after matches, which reportedly affected team cohesion. Ultimately, the Pakistan cricket team failed to advance to the Super Eight, leading to their early elimination from the tournament.
