Former Zimbabwe cricket coach Andy Flower has praised India's new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, calling him an "inspirational leader" rather than just a coach. Flower believes that Gambhir, a legendary India batter, possesses the talent and skills needed to excel in his role.

Flower shared his thoughts on Gambhir, highlighting his qualities for success.

"He has got the characteristics of a successful head coach. He hasn’t coached any team in the past but it doesn’t matter. It is better to call him an inspirational leader than a coach," Flower said.

"GG has strong opinions and knows how to get the best out of the players. He has a clear idea of the brand of cricket he wants the India players to play," he further added.

India has already secured a 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, which is Gambhir's first series as head coach. The team has played aggressive cricket, a style that Gambhir has always advocated for the subcontinent team.

Before this stint, Gambhir had not coached any team. However, he served as a mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants for two years and for the Kolkata Knight Riders for one season.
