Azam Khan and Arif Yaqoob made headlines with their outstanding performances
In a close match during the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Azam Khan and Arif Yaqoob made headlines with their outstanding performances.
Azam, representing Islamabad United, blazed his way to the fastest fifty of PSL 9, achieving the milestone in just 21 balls, eclipsing the previous record set by Dawid Malan.
On the other hand, Arif Yaqoob, playing for Peshawar Zalmi, etched his name in the history books by becoming the first bowler to claim four wickets in a single over in PSL history. With figures of 5/27, Arif Yaqoob played a pivotal role in Zalmi's win.
Notably, Zalmi, fueled by Babar Azam's magnificent century and Yaqoob's impressive bowling display, emerged victorious against Islamabad United by a margin of eight runs in the 13th match of PSL 9.
Posting a big target of 202 runs, Zalmi's bowlers put up a spirited performance to restrict Islamabad to 193/9. Despite a strong partnership between Colin Munro and Azam, it was Yaqoob's exceptional four-wicket haul in the 19th over that turned the tide in favor of Zalmi, securing their third consecutive win in the tournament.
