Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has created history by becoming the highest wicket-taker for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He reached this milestone during the 2025 IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Arshdeep needed just one wicket to break the record, and he did it early by dismissing Phil Salt on the third ball of the match, which was shortened to 14 overs per side. With this wicket, Arshdeep took his total tally to 85 wickets in 72 matches, surpassing Piyush Chawla, who had 84 wickets in 87 games for Punjab.

Top wicket-takers for Punjab Kings in IPL:

Arshdeep Singh – 85 wickets in 72 matches

Sandeep Sharma – 73 wickets in 61 matches
Axar Patel – 68 wickets in 61 matches
Mohammad Shami – 58 wickets in 42 matches

Arshdeep made his IPL debut in 2019, taking three wickets in his first three games. Since then, he has developed into one of the most dependable bowlers for the franchise. His consistent performances earned him a retention spot ahead of the IPL 2022 auction.

In recent seasons, Arshdeep’s form has been impressive:
2022 – 10 wickets
2023 – 17 wickets
2024 – 19 wickets

This season, Arshdeep has continued to deliver. He picked up:
2 wickets against Gujarat Titans (March 25)
3 wickets against Lucknow Super Giants (April 1)
1 wicket against Rajasthan Royals (April 5)
1 wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad (April 12)
1 wicket for just 11 runs in 3 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (April 15)

Although he went wicketless in the April 8 match against Chennai Super Kings, which Punjab Kings won by 18 runs, he quickly bounced back with strong performances.

In the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings chased down a target of 96 runs in just 12.1 overs and won by five wickets. Nehal Wadhera played a key role in the chase, scoring 33 runs off just 19 balls, including three sixes and as many fours.

Despite efforts from Josh Hazlewood (3 wickets) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2 wickets), RCB couldn't defend their low total.
