Musfhiqur Rahim’s brilliant knock helped Bangladesh register a comfortable 137-run win in the Asia Cup 2018 opener in Dubai on Saturday.

On the day where there were many ups and downs, Rahim stood up like a lone warrior and scored his career-best 144 to help Bangladesh post more than competitive total of 261 on the board after being reduced to 2-1 inside the first over.

Rahim was well-supported by young Mohammad Mithun, who scored 63 off 68 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes.

For Sri Lanka, veteran pacer Lasith Malinga was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed four wickets.

In reply, the Islanders had a horrid time with the bat and were eventually bowled out for just 124 in the 36th over, with Dilruwan Perera finishing with the top score of 29.

For the victorious side, captain Mashrafe Mortaza, left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman and right-arm off-spinner Mehidy Hasan claimed two wickets each.
