The national selection committee headed by Inzamamul Haq — after consultations with Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Head Coach Mickey Arthur — has announced a list of 18 players for the training camp ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The camp will take place from September 3-10, 2018 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The players will undergo fitness tests on the first day of the camp.

The national team is currently participating in a retreat camp activity at Army School of Physical Training (ASPT), Abbotabad — which is scheduled to conclude on August 31, 2018.

This year’s Asia Cup was originally set to be held in India but was shifted to the UAE because of strained relations between New Delhi and Islamabad.

The biennial tournament will begin from September 15 with Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh in the opener.

The Cup reverts to its traditional 50-over ODI format this year after opting in 2016 for a T20I competition, which India won.

List of players called

Fakhar Zaman, Imamul Haq, Shan Masood, Mohammad Hafeez, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Haris Sohail, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Imad Wasim, Hassan Ali, Usman Khan Shinwari, Mohammed Amir, Junaid Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Faheem Ashraf.
