Asia Cup: Pakistan open to playing India on neutral venue

Pakistan is open to playing the Asia Cup matches against India at a neutral venue, according to the Chief Executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wasim Khan.

While speaking in an exclusive chat with Cricket Pakistan, Wasim clarified that there was no correlation between the Asia Cup and the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan amid speculations that the two countries had bartered the tournament to keep the series alive.

“Under the current circumstances we do not think they [India] will come to Pakistan. We have the option of playing in the UAE in this regard,” said Wasim. “The idea that a deal was struck with Bangladesh with regards to the Asia Cup is not right. This rumour is incorrect. We have had no talks with Bangladesh in this regard.”

“The Asia Cup is an Asian Cricket Council event and we will host it. No one country can decide this matter,” he added.

The PCB Chief Executive also added that the board is prepared and will be hosting the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) XI and other international teams in near future.

“We have been in talks with hosting South Africa as well,” he said.  “The MCC is arriving on February 13 under the leadership of Kumar Sangakkara. They will play two matches against Pakistan XI at Gaddafi Stadium and one each against Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars at Aitchison College.”
