Pakistan's power-hitting batter, Asif Ali, is aiming to make a resurgence in the national team by delivering impressive performances in the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup.

In a recent interview, Ali expressed his determination to seize the opportunity and showcase his skills, hoping to earn a recall to the national squad.

Known for his aggressive batting style, Ali revealed that his preferred batting position is No. 4. He emphasized that he excelled in this role prior to his international debut in 2018, but adapting to No. 6 in the national team presented a significant challenge.

"The transition from No. 4 to No. 6 is not easy," Ali said. "Training specifically for your position is crucial in international cricket. When you're accustomed to playing higher up the order domestically, the shift to a lower spot at the international level can be demanding," he added.

The 32-year-old further highlighted that the Champions Cup is providing players with valuable experience, simulating potential roles they could play in the national team.

Reflecting on his recent half-century against the Markhors in the tournament, Asif acknowledged the intense competition for spots in the Pakistan squad. While pleased with his performance, he admitted that securing a victory would have been more satisfying.

"The pitch favored bowlers in the later stages of the game, making batting difficult," he said.

"There was moisture early on, and that's why Dolphins' management chose to field first. If they had asked me, I would have advised them not to fall for that and opt to bat first," he added.
