Australia batters have responded brilliantly in reply to Pakistan's 476/4d in the first innings of the first Test at Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

The top four batters registered half-centuries with two players being dismissed in the 90s. Usman Khawaja (97) fell three runs short to a century while his partner David Warner scored 68.

On the other hand, the No.1 Test batter walked back to the pavilion on the score of 90 while Steven Smith is going strong after registering 34th fifty.

As top four batters have crossed the 50-run mark, this is only the second time that Australia's top four has reached fifty in the same Test innings in the subcontinent.

Australia achieved this record for the first time against India in Delhi in 2008, where Matthew Hayden (83), Simon Katich (64), Ricky Ponting (87) and Michael Hussey (53) reached fifty.
