Pakistan wicket-keeper Azam Khan has recently deleted all posts on his Instagram account, sparking speculations that the move came in response to fan criticism over his fitness and selection for the T20 World Cup squad.
Azam, who frequently shares pictures and videos on Instagram, has not provided any explanation for the sudden disappearance of his posts.
He has often faced verbal assaults over his obesity, despite proving his skill in T20 league tournaments in Pakistan and abroad.
His recent social media activity, or lack thereof, has fueled rumors and concerns among fans and cricket enthusiasts.
Previously, Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt also criticized keeper-batter Azam Khan for his poor fitness and performance.
“Everything related to Azam Khan will be criticized whenever he doesn’t perform. This is because what he presents is open to criticism. He invites criticism with the kind of fitness he carries. He had problems against the short ball,” Butt said.
Butt also slammed Azam’s keeping as he dropped two crucial catches in the fourth T20I.
“People are going to speak about him. The way he got out today, his eyes were closed while facing the short ball, and then his wicketkeeping. His fitness is always going to be under the scanner. I think he has to decide on his career. He should work on his fitness, otherwise, it is going to be very difficult for him to play,” he said.
It is worth noting that the Men in Green will commence their T20 World Cup campaign against co-hosts USA on Thursday, June 6, in Dallas.
