Azhar Ali reaches 7000 Test runs; becomes fifth Pakistani to do so

The 37-year-old took 173 innings to achieve the feat to join other legendary batters of the elite list to score over 7000 runs

Pakistan veteran batter Azhar Ali has crossed the milestone of 7000 runs in Test cricket during his knock against Australia in the third Test of the Benaud-Qadir Trophy.

The 37-year-old took 173 innings to achieve the feat to join other legendary batters of the elite list to score over 7000 runs.

Azhar Ali made his Test debut against Australia in 2010 and ironically reached to this landmark against the same opposition 12 years later. The right-handed batter scored 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries.

The other Pakistan batters to score over 7000 runs are as follows:

Younis Khan

Younis Khan is the top run-scorer for Pakistan in Tests, the only Pakistani to cross the 10000-run mark in this format. He scored 10099 runs at an average of 52.05 in 118 matches including 34 centuries and 33 half-centuries.

Javed Miandad

Javed Miandad is second on the list of top run-getters for Pakistan. He scored 8832 runs at an average of 52.57 in 124 Tests including 23 centuries and 43 half-centuries

Inzamam-ul-Haq

Inzamam-ul-Haq has scored 8829 runs at an average of 50.16 in 119 Tests including 25 centuries and 46 half-centuries.

Mohammad Yousuf

Mohammad Yousuf made 7530 runs at 52.29 in 90 Tests including 24 centuries and 33 half-centuries.
