Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam added another milestone to his name as he became the third Pakistani player to score over 1000 runs in ICC 50-over tournaments.

Babar achieved this feat during the high-stakes Champions Trophy 2025 match against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Although he could only score 23 runs off 26 balls, hitting five boundaries, it was enough for him to cross the 1000-run mark. He now joins Pakistan legends Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad on the elite list.

Anwar remains the highest scorer for Pakistan in ICC ODI tournaments with 1204 runs, followed by Miandad with 1083. Babar now holds the third position with 1014 runs. However, he is the fastest among them to reach this milestone, taking just 24 innings—one less than Anwar.

Fastest Pakistani batters to 1000 runs in ICC ODI events:
- Babar Azam: 24 innings
- Saeed Anwar: 25 innings
- Javed Miandad: 30 innings

Babar made his ICC tournament debut in the 2017 Champions Trophy, where he scored 133 runs in five innings and played a key role in Pakistan’s historic title win.

His best performance in an ICC event came in the 2019 Cricket World Cup, where he scored 474 runs at an average of 67, including a century.

However, his 2023 World Cup campaign was less impressive, as he managed 320 runs in nine innings at an average of 40.

In the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025, Babar started with a half-century in the opening match against New Zealand, though his innings received criticism for being slow.

Despite this, his latest achievement further cements his place among Pakistan’s all-time greats in international cricket.
