Pakistan captain’s 17th century came against West Indies last year in June
After breaking Hashim Amla’s record of being the fastest batter to reach 5000 ODI runs, Babar Azam has surpassed South African batting legend again as he also became the fastest batter to complete 18 ODI centuries on Friday.
Pakistan captain accomplished both of these accomplishments in his 97th ODI innings, which occurred during the fourth ODI match against New Zealand in Karachi.
While Amla took 101 innings to score 5000 ODI runs, the South African batsman completed 18 ODI centuries in 102 innings.
Babar also ended his 11-month ODI century drought as he finally reached the 100-mark after failing to convert his last eight ODI fifties. Pakistan captain’s 17th century came against West Indies last year in June.
Babar has now achieved the top spot in the list of the quickest batsmen to reach 18 ODI centuries, with Hashim Amla (102), David Warner (115), Virat Kohli (119), and AB de Villiers (159) following him.
