Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has once again created history by breaking a world record in One Day International (ODI) cricket.

During the fourth ODI match against New Zealand in Karachi on Friday, Babar achieved the distinction of being the fastest batter to score 5,000 runs in ODI cricket, reaching the milestone in just 97 innings.

This is a remarkable achievement, as it took the previous record holder, Hashim Amla, 101 innings to achieve the same feat.

Babar now holds the top spot on the list of the fastest batters to score 5,000 ODI runs, followed by Hashim Amla (101), Viv Richards (114), Virat Kohli (114), and David Warner (115).

Last week, Babar also became the second-fastest Asian batter to score 12000 international runs, just falling short of the record held by Kohli.

Babar achieved this remarkable feat during his 49-run knock in the first ODI against New Zealand at Pindi Cricket Stadium.

The 28-year-old reached the milestone in his 277th international inning, whereas India’s superstar batter took only 276 innings.
