Babar Azam creates history with a ton against Australia in fourth innings

Pakistan captain and marquee batsman Babar Azam has finally reached triple digits in Test cricket after February 2020.

Babar Azam's century against Australia in the fourth innings is the first-ever Test hundred by a Pakistan captain on home soil. 

In addition to that, Azam is now also the second Pakistan captain after Younis Khan to have ever scored a century in the fourth innings of a Test match.

Younis Khan was the first Pakistani captain to have achieved the record back in 2007 against India in Kolkata.

Moreover, Babar's partnership with impressive Abdullah Shafique has also seen a record being broken.

The current partnership between Babar and Abdullah of 171 runs is the highest-ever partnership for any wicket against an Australian side.

Furthermore, both batters survived 358 balls, which is also the highest-ever by an Asian pair in the fourth innings of a Test match against Australia.

As the fourth day came to a close, Pakistan finished in a commanding position of 192-2 and require 314 runs from the last day's play with 8 wickets in hand.
