Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team and the world's number one ODI batsman, will be representing the Colombo Strikers in the Lanka Premier League. This marks the team's first entry into the tournament.
Babar has scored an impressive total of 9,201 runs in 260 T20 matches, maintaining an outstanding average of 44.02.
Recently, he had a candid conversation with Sagar Khanna, the owner of the Colombo Strikers, in preparation for the Lanka Premier League, which is scheduled to commence on July 31st.
“It was great to catch up with Sagar. Sagar is a fantastic person to work with and is quite keen and knowledgeable when it comes to the game of cricket,” Babar said.
“The Lanka Premier League with the Colombo Strikers will be a great experience for me and the others I feel with this kind of a management who is always backing the players,” he added.
“Babar is a superb player and an inspiration to all the youngsters. His batting abilities and captaincy is fantastic and I am very happy that we are working together at the Colombo Strikers. It is always nice to talk cricket with him, and even better when it happens in person,” Sagar Khanna said.
The player auction for the tournament will take place on June 14th, and the Colombo Strikers are eager to secure some of the most talented players available. In addition to Babar, the squad for the Colombo Strikers already includes Matheesha Pathirana, Naseem Shah, and Chamika Karunarathne.
