Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, prefers to watch the Australian Big Bash League over the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Zalmi skipper made the aforementioned choice while answering a question on the Peshawar Zalmi podcast.

Babar also gave his rationale behind choosing the BBL.

''The conditions over there in Australia are different. The pitches over there are really fast and you get to learn a lot. Whereas in IPL, you get the same Asian conditions,'' Babar said.

Babar is yet to feature in the Big Bash League, whereas no Pakistani cricketer has taken part in the IPL after the first season of the tournament, due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.

Earlier this month, Babar Azam registerd his name in The Hundred draft for 2023. He has entered the draft with a reserve price of £100,000.

Last month, former India cricketer, Aakash Chopra, termed HBL Pakistan Super League as the 'second best league' in the world after the IPL. The former cricketer believes that Big Bash League is lagging behind.

"SA20 was such a lovely cricketing spectacle…packed houses. Good cricket. League has the potential to be the second-best T20 league after the IPL. Currently, I feel it’s the PSL. Which incidentally is starting today too. BBL-CPL lagged behind," said Chopra.
