Babar Azam, Pakistan's white-ball captain, has returned to training in Lahore after the team's early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024 held in the United States and West Indies.

Azam started his physical training at the National Cricket Academy on Friday and is expected to begin batting practice next week.

According to sources, Babar Azam will be ready to participate in the Test series against Bangladesh, which is scheduled for August in Pakistan. Before the Test series, Azam will also play in the Global T20 Canada league for the Vancouver Knights. The fourth edition of this league will take place from July 25 to August 11, featuring six teams.

Pakistan's performance in the T20 World Cup was disappointing, as they failed to qualify for the Super Eight stage. The team faced criticism after losing crucial matches, including a five-run loss in a Super Over against the United States and a six-run defeat against India. Despite a victory over Canada by seven wickets on June 11, Pakistan's chances were dashed when the match between the US and Ireland was abandoned due to rain on June 14, giving the hosts an additional point.
