Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam is reportedly considering legal action against several YouTubers and former players who allegedly made defamatory remarks against him during and after the T20 World Cup 2024, as per reported by a local news channel.

Following Pakistan's unexpected exit from the tournament, criticism mounted against Babar Azam and the team's overall performance. Sources indicate that a social media campaign targeted Babar, causing him distress due to the accusations leveled against him.

Reports suggest that Babar Azam is contemplating sending legal notices to the individuals involved and has initiated consultations with legal experts to explore his options.

The legal department of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is said to be actively gathering evidence related to the statements made against Babar by these YouTubers and former players.

Pakistan's disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 saw them failing to qualify for the Super Eight stage. The team faced a defeat against debutants USA in a Super Over tie and also suffered a narrow loss to arch-rivals India. Their lone victory came against Canada on June 11 by seven wickets.

Despite a rain-affected match between the US and Ireland resulting in a point for the co-hosts on June 14, Pakistan's hopes of advancing in the tournament were dashed. The team's final league match against Ireland was essentially a formality before they returned home.
