Babar's struggles have sparked viral fake retirement rumors on social media, fueled by fans and analysts
Former Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam is currently facing intense criticism and online trolling after a string of disappointing batting performances, including recent struggles in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh.
The latest blow to his reputation comes in the form of viral fake retirement posts, further compounding his troubles on and off the field.
Babar's recent woes have not only been highlighted by cricket analysts and fans but have also sparked a series of viral fake retirement announcements on social media.
The first fake post appeared on Monday afternoon, crafted so convincingly that even dedicated cricket fans were briefly misled.
This initial post was soon followed by a second, even more sensational fake retirement announcement from a different parody account, which quickly went viral and garnered significant media attention.
Azam, who has struggled to find form in the longer format of the game, was recently dismissed for just 11 runs in Pakistan’s second innings of the second Test against Bangladesh.
This performance added to his growing list of underwhelming scores in the traditional format, where his recent innings include 14, 24, 27, 13, 24, 39, 21, 14, 1, 41, 26, 23, 0, 22, 31, and 11. In total, Azam has gone 16 innings without reaching a half-century, accumulating just 331 runs in this period.
