With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 approaching, Pakistan is yet to announce its squad for the prestigious event. In fact, Pakistan is the only team that has not yet revealed its lineup.
Pakistan will also play a triangular series before the Champions Trophy, and it is expected that the same squad will be selected for both events.

In recent days, several rumors have circulated regarding the potential squad for the Champions Trophy. One key issue is the likely absence of Saim Ayub from the tournament due to an ankle injury. As a result, the selectors are considering Fakhar Zaman for the opening slot. However, there is also speculation about promoting captain Babar Azam to the top of the order, a decision that has raised some eyebrows.

According to reports, the Pakistan selection committee has been advised against opening with Babar Azam in the Champions Trophy. The recommendation is that only players with prior experience as openers should take up that position, while Babar’s skill set would be better utilized in the middle order.

Additionally, reports suggest that a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) meeting will take place to discuss the potential inclusion of Imam-ul-Haq. Imam, who regularly opened under Babar Azam’s captaincy, has not represented Pakistan recently, following Saim Ayub's inclusion as a regular opener.

In an interesting development, power-hitter Usman Khan has been training with former cricketer Abdul Razzaq to improve his power game. With Pakistan lacking a consistent power-hitter, Usman could be a surprise inclusion in the squad.

There are also discussions about including Khushdil Shah, as Pakistan looks to strengthen their explosive middle-order heading into the mega event.
