Pakistan did hot have the start they expected in the T20 World Cup after winning the tri-nation series against New Zealand and Bangladesh.

The Men in Green were pretty confident about performing and giving their best in the T20 World Cup 2022. But this was not the start the Pakistan captain was expecting.

Pakistan lost two consecutive matches against India and Zimbabwe arch-rivals, making their chances even more, tougher to qualify for the tournament's semi-final.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who is among the top five batters in the T20I rankings, failed to score runs in the mega-event as he got out on the very first ball against India and scored four runs against Zimbabwe.

Although Pakistan won the third match against the Netherlands by four wickets, the skipper failed to score big as he scored just four runs.

Now, as he is surrounded with criticism for his bizarre captaincy and not being consistent with his batting performance, many other players have come in to support Babar Azam.

Former South African captain AB de Villiers praised Babar Azam during a live session on his YouTube channel.

"Babar Azam is an amazing player. I watched him play for the first time, saying this boy can play. He is a fantastic addition to Pakistan's success, and it's great to see young generations taking ownership."

De Villiers highlighted that Babar Azam has brought stability to Pakistan's batting, "The batting side of Pakistan has always been a problem; it was never solid enough, it always goes up and down, and I feel they are in a place of consistency because of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan."

Pakistan will take South Africa in their fourth match on November 2 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
