Bangladesh lost the opening Test by seven wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday that pace bowler Khaled Ahmed will replace Taskin Ahmed for the second Test against South Africa, scheduled to begin on October 29 in Chattogram. Bangladesh trails in the series, having lost the opening Test by seven wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
According to a BCB selection panel member, the decision to rest Taskin was made to keep him fresh for the upcoming, lengthy overseas engagements.
"Taskin is our all format cricketer and will be flying away from home for 50 days as we have ODIs against Afghanistan followed by a full-fledged series against West Indies," said the selector.
"We want to have him fresh ahead of the long tour and so decided to rest him while Khaled is included so that if we need him, we can use him considering our two pacers Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud are fit and ready to go," he said.
The Bangladesh squad, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, will travel to Chattogram on October 26 to prepare for the series decider.
Bangladesh Squad for Second Test:
