While the BCB hasn’t officially named a captain, sources indicate that Nurul Hasan Sohan is likely to lead the side
Bangladesh A squad announced for the upcoming home series against New Zealand A, with left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman making a return as he continues his recovery and preparation for international cricket.
Mustafizur recently resumed competitive action in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) after receiving a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection on March 12 to treat an injury. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sees this series as an important step in getting him match-fit for future national duties.
“He was out of cricket for a while, so we brought him into the A team to make him ready for the upcoming international fixture,” BCB chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain said.
The squad also features experienced campaigners like Anamul Haque Bijoy, Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, along with promising youngsters. While the BCB hasn’t officially named a captain, sources indicate that Nurul Hasan Sohan is likely to lead the side due to his seniority.
“We expect this series to be highly competitive. That’s why we’ve included experienced players like Mosaddek and Sohan to ensure they stay on our radar for national selection,” Hossain added.
New Zealand A are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on May 1 for a tour that includes three one-day matches and two four-day games. The one-day series will begin on May 5 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, with subsequent matches on May 7 and May 10. The red-ball games will follow, starting on May 14 in Sylhet and concluding in Dhaka from May 21 to 24.
