The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India, set to begin on October 6, 2024.

Among the notable inclusions is all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, making his return to the T20I side after 14 months. Miraz, who has been a key player for Bangladesh in ODIs and Test cricket, will be looking to cement his place in the shortest format.

This series marks a significant transition for Bangladesh, as it will be their first T20I campaign without veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who recently retired from the format. Miraz is expected to take on some of Shakib’s responsibilities, aiming to continue his impact across all formats.

The three T20Is will be held at Gwalior, New Delhi, and Hyderabad on October 6, 9, and 12, respectively. The series opener at Gwalior’s Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium will be the venue’s first international match since the historic India-South Africa ODI in 2010, where Sachin Tendulkar became the first male cricketer to score a double century in ODIs.

Bangladesh’s last T20I visit to India was in 2019, where they lost the series 1-2. Their most recent T20I clash came in the 2024 T20 World Cup, with India emerging victorious by 50 runs, thanks to a fifty by Hardik Pandya and a three-wicket haul by Kuldeep Yadav.

Bangladesh T20I Squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmud Ullah, Litton Kumer Das, Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hassan Miraz, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Rakibul Hasan.
