Jalal Yunus, the chairman of cricket operations for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has stepped down from his position with immediate effect.

Jalal, who also serves as a director on the board, confirmed his resignation on Monday, citing the best interests of cricket as his reason for leaving.

"I have resigned from the board for the interest of cricket," Jalal said.

This resignation comes at a time of significant scrutiny for the BCB, following the recent political upheaval in Bangladesh. On August 5, the Awami League government was forced to step down due to student protests, leading to expectations of further changes within the cricket board.

BCB president Nazmul Hasan has also expressed his intention to resign, stating that he wants to prioritize cricket and work with the new government. Jalal is the first director to resign since these political developments began, signaling potential shifts within the BCB's leadership.
